M.A. in Strategic Communication GRE/GMAT Waiver Request

    A GRE or GMAT score is required for admission to the M.A. in Strategic Communication. However, three waiver options are available based on undergraduate composite GPA and relevant professional experience.


    Professional Waiver Options

    For applicants with at least five years of full-time professional experience in strategic communication and meet the following criteria:

    • Have at least a 3.00 cumulative grade point average (GPA) on all work attempted prior to completion of the baccalaureate degree (4.00 scale) from a regionally accredited college or university.
    • Demonstrate career advancement in an area related to strategic communication after completing the bachelor’s degree
    • Provide two writing samples demonstrating advanced writing abilities
    • Receive a positive overall review from the Master of Arts in Strategic Communication Graduate Admission Committee to be approved for the professional waiver.

    For applicants with at least seven years of full-time professional experience in strategic communication and meet the following criteria:

    • Have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) on all work attempted prior to completion of the baccalaureate degree (4.00 scale) from a regionally accredited college or university.
    • Demonstrate career advancement in an area related to strategic communication after completing the bachelor’s degree
    • Provide two writing samples demonstrating advanced writing abilities
    • Receive a positive overall review from the Master of Arts in Strategic Communication Graduate Admission Committee.

    Academic Waiver Option for Recent Graduates or Professionals New to the Field

    For applicants with less than five years full-time professional experience in strategic communication who demonstrated academic excellence as an undergraduate student and meet the following criteria:

    • Have a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.5
    • Provide professional resume and proof of at least two years of experience that can include relevant and verifiable work experience, internships, and officially recognized undergraduate student media staff positions
    • Provide at least two strong letters of recommendation from undergraduate faculty that speak to the students’ ability to successfully complete a graduate degree
    • Provide two writing samples that demonstrate advanced writing abilities
    • Receive a positive overall review from the Master of Arts in Strategic Communication Graduate Admission Committee
